Hi

when engine is cold put in reverse and keep foot on brake strange clanking noise for engine/gearbox...not that loud but disturbing...if i just leave after 1 min it clears totally

drives perfectly

any ideas what might be cause.???.gearbox was refurbished a year ago

Could it be the exhaust catching somewhere, then when heated expansion clears the problem, or heatshilds etc.
worth a check...
