Title: Handbrake light Post by Sewingkit on Jul 1st, 2007, 8:51am Hi Everyone, Why would my handbrake light be coming on intermittently when I accelerate?? It happens at varying speeds or accelaration, from stop, 30-60, 50-90, various times. (I am new to cars so please excuse my ignorance) I have the Cosworth saloon '95. Is it something simple like the handbrake that needs adjusting? I do need to replace the fron Discs and Pads right now, is that related? Cheers Steve |

Title: Re: Handbrake light Post by petehull on Jul 1st, 2007, 9:51am Could it be the switch on the handbrake lever needing adjustment, could be that as the engine revs, the gearbox moves slightly and if the switch is a bit critical it could be intermittently making contact, someone else may have thoughts on this but I hope it helps. Title: Re: Handbrake light Post by mr._floppy on Jul 1st, 2007, 11:19am Yeah, sounds like just a switch fault, access to the switch is fairly easy, just remove the tray area below the handbrake via the two screws in the centre console cassette box. |

Title: Re: Handbrake light Post by Sewingkit on Jul 2nd, 2007, 11:28pm Cheers Highlander, Funny you should mention that, my Mate Ty (who owned the car before me) just mentioned it too. I whipped out the cowl etc, could not see anything there even though i felt very proud of myself for doing it, lol. Engine rebuild next....... NOT! I will be dropping some Dot 4 in directly! Man, I love this site, what the internet was designed for....!!! |
