Title: Passenger AIRBAG isolation switch
Post by papa on Jul 20th, 2007, 11:18pm
Even though my loverly wife has to 'make do' with the family caravan tug (06 Disco 3 SE) when out with the kids on the shopping run (poorly shod). We all know she secretly loves to drive MY beloved Scorpio whenever I HAVE to use the Landrover for off road fun with the lads. The only thing that she dares to complain about is the fact that the passenger airbag can't be turn off for the kids.
Obviously the main dealers don't want to know but does anybody have any ideas how to install a switch or something that would suffice? I own a multi-meter and soldering iron but I'm also switched on enough to realise that I am 'out of my depth' with this one. I have a feeling that creating an open circuit will probably not do the trick. I did consider just installing a bogus LED to give her peace of mind but could not risk the grief if the worst happened.
So I wondered if anyone had any idea? For sure no guarantees or comebacks; I understand that we are on a 'heath and safety' knife edge, but just wanted to at least attempt 'a proper job'.

Cheers,
Dan :-)

hi there

the only way i can see this working is for the fmd to switch it off (if possible) in the software.

someone asked before about this and got the same responce.

any other way would invalidate your insurance.
