I got my car 7 years ago without a red master key (smack hands).
I had 2 sets of keys until recently (blame the wife).
I now have one key and one remote for my scorpio.

What can I do to protect myself against the loss of the LAST key?

Hi: Welcome to the site. :)

Don't know where you are in the Uk, as it's not in your profile, but most locksmiths these days will cut and programme a new standard key for you on production of your registration Document.

Obviously any Ford Dealer will supply you with a new RED key (with which you can programme others), at a price. Again, you'll need to prove ownership of the vehicle.

I'd get another one cut soon, because it doesn't need anyone to tell you that if you lose the last one you've got, then there's no way you're going to start that car again, short of a lot of expense!! :o

PS: It's handy to show your nearest town in your profile because then, local members near to you may just know somewhere just round the corner from you for spares/service etc etc. ;)

Hopefully somebody in the Yorkshire neck of the woods may be able to suggest somewhere for you now.

I used to live in 'Uddersfield (17 years there), but I'm a long way away now in Torquay. ;)
