Title: Re: Thread gone on wheel for cover Post by Bren on Jul 22nd, 2007, 3:31pm If you re-tap the thread it would be oversize for the original fixing bolt. Far better to helicoil it. Kits should be available locally everywhere. http://www.emhart.com/products/helicoil.asp |

Title: Re: Thread gone on wheel for cover Post by john.n on Jul 23rd, 2007, 6:49pm Hi Jim, you could try smearing the thread with JBWeld and then recutting it. If you,ve never used it its similar to Araldite in as much as it comes in 2 tubes that you mix. I have used it for several repairs in the past including header tanks on radiators.Just make sure you clean out the thread before you start. john.n ps. posted cheque for wheel centre today. |
