hi I have a 96 cossie when I kick down my temp gauge drops to cold , any Ideas , trev in Luton

The thermostsat maybe stuck open....when you suddenly increase the engine revs, the cooler water from the rad is pumped quicker through the t-stat. If the t-stat is stuck open or slow to close then the temp guage will drop...

.........Just a theory mind you :)

Does the temp guage also drop on motorway journeys ?....if so, then it is probably a stuck open t-stat ;)
