Title: Re: autotransmission fault Post by TiberiuS on Aug 8th, 2007, 12:40pm Hi. Before you jump in the deep end, are you sure it couldn't be a damper pulley or the AC compressor or something? :-/ Problem is that if it's just mechanical wear, it might not even bring up any codes :( Does sound like a dead autobox though, maybe the torque converter? |

Title: Re: autotransmission fault Post by Sewingkit on Aug 8th, 2007, 1:33pm Thanks guys so far, I need to get to the bottom of thsi... 1. Oil is fine, Clear grey with a slight red hue and smells fine with no bits 2. We think is maybe not that bad because when it is put in gear (to start, first few minutes) under high revs it will move forward slowly. then... 3. After a few minutes when it is put into gear, it engages then immediately stalls. Haven't had a look under yet, as if we could see anything, but wanna explore avenues through here first then try and OBD scan ("stn" (Bill) is calling me back from Powercraft) Then we wuill have to try and get a look in the bottom of the box and see if anything looks awry then possibly take out and have a more thorough look. Thanks again, keep 'em coming in! Steve |

Title: Re: autotransmission fault Post by wudz on Aug 8th, 2007, 9:48pm Grey,,,, as mentioned should be red at worst brown,,,the grey may be water that has got into the oil from radiator as they both share the main radiator though in seperate chambers but it may have failed... just a thought as watery oil can be compressed and would not provide torque... fingers crossed :) cheers John |
