Title: Where is cc temp. sensor in footwell?
Post by adamslade on Aug 12th, 2007, 5:23pm
Hi,

Can anyone tell me where I can find the temperature sensor for the climate control for the drivers side.   ???

My air con comes out cold on the passenger side, but I always get hot air on the drivers side.  I am assuming that my sides sensor has gone wrong, unless anyone else has another suggestion.  ::)

Thanks, Adam

Hi and welcome to the site ;)

As far as I know, the only temp sensor is the one behind the wire mesh on the controlpanel...but, according to the manual here, (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/aircon/sensintfootwell.pdf) the is one in each footwell ::)

You should find everything you need here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/acindex.htm)

Hope this helps.

Regards, Bruce.

You probably just need to carry out the reset sequence, there are motors on the control flaps in the air distributer, sometimes these can run out of sequence with each other, try the reset and I think you will see the difference....

The footwell sensers are about an inch inside the footwell air ducts  :)

Ok, thanks for the responses.

Tiberius, thanks for the first link this is ideal for locating and if need be replacing them.  (The second link however doesn't indicate these - maybe because they are hidden and less accessible)

petehull, I will try this first.

Results will be posted soon.

OK, did the diagnostic reset.

Fault codes came up 10 - no surprise and also the 2nd time I ran it (to see if the 10 had cleared) I also got a 52.

Any ideas what 52 means?

Anyway I will delve deeper to find the sensor.

I think this (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/aircon/acmodule.pdf) is what you're looking for.

Hope this helps :).

52 is the same as 02. it just means the system thinks it's a permanent error.

Doesn't 02 or 52 mean that either the blower switch or air distribution switch on the C/C panel is faulty ?  :)

When you take the cc control panel out you can carefully open it up by unclipping the facia off the pc board.  Once you have done that, if you get some switch cleaner you can give the 2 potentiameters a squirt, but try not to turn them or the knobs, put the unit back together again and then turn the knobs back and forth a couple of times.  The pots have carbon tracks in them which can oxidise and alter the conductivity.  This procedure should clean them and bring them back to the original condition.... Hope this is clear.. and helpfull
This should clear the 02 fault.

I've always understood JCs' answer to be the case insofar as 02 or 52 is concerned, also, as has been previously suggested by Pete the motors or the flaps can 'stick'.

Well in as much as it is was supposed to be a permenant fault, it has cleared itself today and I am back to the 10 error.

Just to recap, no matter what setting (a/c on or off) I get hot air out the drivers side.

I am wondering, on the brink of locating the sensor, whether it is actually the sensor I should be looking at, or whether it could be flaps/motors as suggested.

The question is now, is it likely to be a flap or motor, and where do I locate it.

Thanks

I have posted some pics of the air distributer on the above site, you can see the various bits you need.

Hope it is of help to you....
