Hello guys and I have to say I am glad to be a member of this forum now :)

so I'm the proud owner of an 1996, 2l, 16v DOCH Ford Scorpio. About a month ago I've noticed some hesitation on sudden acceleration. Then it got worse and started to have a poor idle. In this moment the car has brand new: gas filter, gas pump, air filter, spark plugs.

After spending alot of money on the above just because some mechanics had some hunches, I decided to buy my own code reader. So I bought an elm327 chip based board and usb connector and started investigating on my own. Based on the readings using ScanTool, I've noticed that the O2 Sensors on bank two are acting strange, one is stuck at 1,7v and the other at 0.00v. is that what I should read or are they faulty?

so how many O2 sensors do I have? and where are they placed?

Lemme also fill you in with some more details. I managed to fix the idle problem by changing a piece of hose that connected two pipes. Noticed it was broken and replaced it.

Now I don't have Idle problem but the only problem is that when I try to accelerate harder I have to take it slow otherwise it will choke, cut my power and the engine would make a tractor like sound

Could be the ignition coils breaking down under load.

You probably only have one O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold, you'll see the wire coming through the heat shield to a plug on the wing.
They dropped the after cat sensor, you may have a plugged hole in the pipe alongside the gearbox (my 2.3 has).
You may get a fixed reading even though it's not there.

You've solved one problem, but it sounds as if could you have an induction leak (a leak somewhere in the air intake system). That could be anywhere in the hoses etc between the intake manifold to the air box, EGR and all the other clobber.

Alternatively, what's the wiring loom like? I had to replace mine due to quite bad cracking of the insulation (the loom - inappropriately called the fuel cut off loom - goes from the coil packs to the main connector on the left side of the bulk head below the power steering fluid resevoir, also connecting to many sensors such as the TPS, VSS, CPS, etc).

When you look at the plethora of hoses and connections into the induction chamber you'll realise that finding that leak is going to be tough, but try sticking a hose in your ear (preferrably one that fits in it) and wander the other end around everything that connects into the throttle body and intake manifold and whatnot, if you hear a high pitched hiss, you have found it. Do that with the engine running and with the air con off, when the rad fan runs stop listening as it can imply a false postive with the rush of air.

Pay some attention to the EGR valve as well, maybe take it off and clean it if you don't hear any hisses. FYI the hard plastic hose that leads back to the induction system is prone to cracking.

Also double check that you have the right spark plugs (check with FMD).

I'd have to agree with Tompion. Sounds like ignition coil or HT leads to me. My old mondeo had the same kind of thing (choked up under acceleration). After the HT leads got replaced it stopped, the origonal ford leads are prone to failure after being removed and refitted according to my local FMD ::)

What's an HT lead? oh, and btw, wanted to buy a new wiring loom, but guess what? Ford is unable to provide me the loom as they don't make it anymore :(, even if I want to change it I can't, cuz I can't find it...

Guys, found the problem long time ago but I just forgot to post the result here. And as I feel obliged to post the result and following "never is too late" I'm doing so:

Ignition coils, both of them! Changed, car runs like a kttie :)

Hi.You say you have changed the MAF.Was this with a new or used unit?It,s quite possible that it could be still dirty.Also check the multi plug to the maf ,as a partially connected plug could also cause poor running.Also how was your H.T. checked? If it was done by a meter to measure resistance it wont give you the same results as a lead "under load".Coil packs are also a prime candidate.Other than that EGR valve & vacume leaks would be next on my list.Good luck.Keep us informed.....Craig :)
