Help,
Is it me or are the boots poorly designed? How poor are the hinges, and wot a problem when they bang something hard!!!!
I had a knife block in the boot, shoot the lid and bang! Hinge it it, boot out of shape!!!!!!!!!
Lots of brute force to get it nearly in shape, but silver strips on lights no longer match, boot a nightmare to get locked!!!!
Wot do I do???????????

Dont quite understand this, you shut the boot on something and the hinges are out of shape now?

YEP, thats it, i sort of pushed the boot shut and it just bounced back up. I loked to shut it again and it was completely out of shape! When looking closely there was a knife block on the boot floor under where the hinge is situated, so it looked as if when shutting the boot the rather large hinge has come into contact with th knife block and is out of shape.
I then pushed the boot from passenger side edge towards drivers side to get it back in line. But it is not flat when shut, the top is slightly raised near rear window, an along where the light are it does not sit flush with rear wings and when locked it is lower than the silver line on rear qtr lights, due to it being out i think it is sitting lower on the locking mechanism.

Got you ;) I was thinking it was an Estate for some reason buts its the saloon.

Yes i've done that before although not enough to push the hinge out of alignment.

Other than pulling it or levering it back into position i can see an easy way to fix it unless you can adjust it enough on the hinge bolts to line it up??

Hinge bolts? I had a quick look and thought it was welded?
Alos I am confused as to why mines got the old lights on? And someone said the facelift models had full seatbelts in the rear?

the boot is bolted to the hinges.

Is yours a facelift or prefacelift?

If it is a facelift it may have had broken lights replaced with the older type as the cheapest solution

I made some luggage protectors to go over the hinges, makes it a lot easier packing for holidays etc.

I used an old stacking chair sawn in half.
Other stuff I had kicking around that could’ve been halved were
Central heating header tank
and (apart from their colours) oblong bucket, storage crates

It didn’t take as long as I expected.
I made a cardboard template
Used a jigsaw to cut the plastic seat base.
I screwed 2 bits of wood together each side of the liner for the 2 screws you can see below the spring (sounds flimsy but quite secure).
At the front I used a length of steel flat screwed to it that screws into/hangs from a bit of nylon I turned to fit into the tube that is the hinge stop under the parcel shelf, a bit of wood banged in with araldite would probably do.
