Title: brakes
Post by STUTET74 on Oct 14th, 2007, 9:42am
My handbrake is still only working now and again, but now on setting off the car feels slugish like the handbrake is on or something? Plus the steering wheel wobbles if I take my hands off the wheel when braking. Before I go to a garage about the car feeling slugish, i want to determine whether its the brakes first. Just feels like I have to rev it too much on set off then it seems fine after a bit.

Why not jack the back up, chock the front wheels, release the h/b and try turning the wheels by hand, as for the vibration on braking that sounds like the discs are warped

Also if the handbrake is binding on there will be a considerable amount of heat generated. try checking for warm/hot wheels, especialy near to the hub.
As for the wobbles I agree with bizzay, most likely to be warped discs.
However, worn wishbone bushes and knuckle joints can cause similar symptoms.
