Title: power steering pipe leak
Post by Bulgarien on Oct 22nd, 2007, 11:21am
I can`t figure it out . What can I do about this .

It look like the red oil are coming from one of the a pipes, but I cant see which pipe the servo oil are coming from.

Could it be steering pipe clamp plate bolt between the pipes ? Is it possible to repair that?

Shall I change the hole steering rack (in Denmark it will cost me about 1000 Pound! My scorpio  has drive 190.000 km.

Thanks for help

If it's leaking from one of the hydraulic pipes in the picture then it could be that the (O ring) seal has failed, in which case you'll have to undo the pipe & pull it out to check the O ring. One bit of advice....if you pull the pipe out & there is no O ring, then look inside the hole, it may be stuck in there  :)

Or it might simply be that the pipe has come slightly undone & may need to be re-tightened  ;)

Thank to Jonnycab,

I could tell the worksshop that there was  no need to change the hole steering rack.

I  think he was a litle unhappy about that answer  ;)

The bill could have paid his holiday

The mechanic toll me was difficult to change/repair them but is possible.

He change the O rings that he have found somewhere and look like the originals,  and then the uses a litle cobber plate to make resistance against the pressure.(?)

I dont know what that mean. but now its work again.
