With the help of another member I have located some coil packs but they say they are for everythikng from an Escort through to a Scopio but that they essentialy fit ENG CODES N7A N3A Y5A does anybody know if a 98 2.3 16v is included in this.

The ones on my 98 2.3 16v have the following Nos.

0221 505 423
91 XF 120 29 BA

Can you see the numbers on the ones you have located ?

Y5A is the engine code for the 2.3 so they should be the right ones.

The 2.3 coil packs are the same coils as the 2.0, the RS2000 & the Galaxy 2.0/2.3 as they all share practically the same engine :)

Don't know about the Chinese ones, I didn't know they made them in China but the genuine ones are made in Slovenia.

If you are worried about dodgy ones then you can get some genuine ones here.....

A bit pricey but cheaper than they used to be & they're from Essex Ford (FMD), so you know they're the genuine article ;)

Personally though, I'd be tempted to go for the cheaper £30-£40 ones, as long as they say 'made in Slovenia' :)

Johnny they are made in Italy and say that they are genuine parts but they aren't in the box they come from The Motorists Wharehouse i havent bought them yet

Do they have the same part number ?...if so then they may have switched production to Italy (not too far from Slovenia). If not, then they are probably pattern parts.

Not that there is anything wrong with pattern parts mind you. Some are as good, & in some cases better than original parts.

I said before that I'd only buy them if they said 'made in Slovenia', but as they say 'made in Italy', then I'd probably still buy them :)

As long as they don't say 'made in China' ;)

Not being a petrol head I do not know if using second hand coils is a good or bad thing but:-
