Title: Climate Control fault...or not ? Post by jonnycab on Oct 27th, 2007, 3:41am Not sure if this is a problem or not :-/...so hopefully someone can clear this up for me :) I always have my climate control set to low fan & only switch on the air con when I need it. Problem is, when I start the car from cold, after about 10 seconds the compressor starts running & the only way to stop it running is to turn the control knob to the off position. If I don't turn the control knob to off, the compressor will run for approx 30 seconds then go off on it's own. After this all is fine again & compressor works accordingly. There are no fault codes apart from the usual '57' which always pops up, even though my HBC is working fine. Is this normal behaviour & maybe I've never really noticed it before ?....or is there a problem ? :-/ P.S...I've tried swapping the control panel & SATC unit with a spare ones, but it there is no difference. |

Title: Re: Climate Control fault...or not ? Post by Simmo on Oct 27th, 2007, 7:29am JC. I don't know if this helps but if the 'direction' control is set to 'screen' the Air Con is 'on' by default whether the 'on/off' button is pressed or not. Have a read of THIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/aircon.htm) and particularly the paragraph halfway down starting with NOTE:. :) Mike. |

Title: Re: Climate Control fault...or not ? Post by mr._floppy on Oct 27th, 2007, 11:18am With the left hand dial at AUTO and the right hand dial at any position, on start up the CC always ( by default, even with the A/C button off ) starts the compressor to extract the humidity from the air to prevent condensation. That's my understanding anyway, and it does it's job too, no more wiping the inside of the windscreen for the first mile in cold and wet weather, the screen clears very quickly. Leave alone I'd say. |

Title: Re: Climate Control fault...or not ? Post by jonnycab on Oct 27th, 2007, 12:36pm Mike, cheers for that, but I know about the the C/C being on by default when set to screen ;) Flops, cheers, that clears it up & makes sense. Only thing is the dial is not set to Auto :-/.....but maybe I won't worry too much about it ;) |
