Can anybody please help!!
I,m a new member to the scorpio site and have a major problem?
i purchased a 2.0 auto scorpio ultima in feb from a guy i work with..the car is in mint condition but recently failed its M.O.T.....the failures are as follows :
O/S steering arm has relative movement at its fixings
O/S rear brake pipe excessively corroded
O/S front(seat mounting)seat anchorage excessively corroded
I,m no petrol head but i had a quote from a garage for £400 to have the work done and i think it sounds excessively high.
The car has been SORN and is currently on the drive...idiot here went out to the car the other day and the battery is now flat!!...
does anyone know if the price i was given is too much or a good estimate..also will my battery be done in or will it be ok to re-charge.
Please help cos i love the car!! :-[

Hello and welcome.

It doesnt sound too bad but then we dont know how bad the corrosion is.
Your battery should charge up ok if its just been drained with the lights on etc?

Does sound a bit high, seems to require a bit of welding and a brake pipe. Labour will probably be the most part of the costs. I would try elswhere. Regards the battery, recharging should,nt be a problem. If after recharging your rev counter and speedo needles initially do a bit of a dance -this is normal as they are resetting. Good luck. john.n

The Steering arm and rear brake pipes are quite easy DIY Jobs the weldng obviously need specialist equipment ( WELDER) other that than that the quotes seem a little on the HIGH side IMHO... Why not do the simple jobs yourself and get the welding done . then retest .

which area are you in m8? another member may know of somewhere that can help you for less cash or even be able to help you themselves if close by
