Title: Uneven Idling when Cold
Post by macw on Oct 31st, 2007, 4:34pm
1996, 160K, 2.3 Scorpio Ultima Estate Manual.
Failed MOT Emissions at high idle garage said new Lambda Sensor needed. Fitted Bosch one (specific to Vehicle) and it seems to oscilate the idling speed between 800 and 1000 when cold every couple of seconds. I am awaiting delivery of OBD cable from US and the garage who did the MOT is not an ODB or Scorpio "expert" (my old garage closed). If anyone has any ideas as to what the problem might be it would be much appreciated. My unexpert idea is that the heating circuit might not be working on the lambda. Looking forward to getting the OBD cable so I can see a bit more what is going on.

Firstly try cleaning the MAF (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm) and secondly consider the Idle Air control valve. Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/pooridle.htm).
