Guys,

I have just been attempting to replace my autobox cooler pipes. All went well until I noted another drip from the pipe where it meets the cooler.

Further investigation ended with me holding the pipe that had just decided to break off the cooler >:(

I know I need a new cooler, but in the meantime can I just connect the 2 pipes that went into it so I can use the car? The car is not used for towing and as the weather is cooler (ish) at the moment, will this be ok for a short while?

...which would suggest I am ok while a replacement is found ::)

Yep there are a few running about with the cooler bypassed with a bit of rubber hose ;)

I tried that as an emergency measure when we broke down in France last year with the same broken pipe problem (auto fluid flowing out and burning on the exhausts.... looked like a James Bond stunt car!) and after a while it blew one of the seals on the autobox!

Best bet is to get it done unless you want to drive round at 30mph everywhere!
