Title: Air Lock in Coolant System - Poor Heating Post by grandadman on Nov 8th, 2007, 8:53pm Anyone know a quick fix for water airlocks ??? I have just fitted a new water pump, and had a spot of bother with the larger rubber hose leaking, so I had to loose some of the water from the system and do a better job of tightning the hose. I then filled the system up with a kettle and created what I remember from my old Granny days an airlock in the water/heater system. Any ideas ??? - I will need soon to prepare for anti freeze and I have no idea where the water drain plug is in the engine ??? I have tried a 'search' but no luck! At the moment the system heats up and when you draw on the heat it goes cooler over time. |

Title: Re: Air Lock in Coolant System - Poor Heating Post by Highlander on Nov 8th, 2007, 9:00pm Was your heater working beforehand? Are the heater pipes hot where they enter the bulkhead? The drain plug is on the bottom of the radiator on the side nearest the engine. Parking the car up hill and running it with the coolant tank lid removed, that should help clear the airlock if thats what it is |

I will check the bulkhead at first light tomorrow and locate the drainage plug too cheers + Thanx ;) I didn't want to loosen that hose again and put more stress on the rubber! |
