(1996 24v)

Ugh.

Friday - managed to change the thermostat (who decided to put it there :o).

Also replaced the gearbox oil cooler and pipes.

Great stuff 8)

Then found a pipe had begun leaking petrol, not a lot, but a little >:(
Having said that I haven't even put the key in the ignition after spotting it.

The leak actually appears to be coming from a connection. The connection in question is where a rigid pipe comes from under the car then goes (I think) through a non rigid pipe to the injector rail (again, IIRC). There are 2 pipes with a connection each, one is white, one is red. I am having issues with the red one.

Has anyone else had similar problems? Is it a new pipe from Ford or could I get rid of any dodgy bits then replace with decent fuel pipe and clips?

You squeeze the 2 lugs & pull to get it off or push it on (assuming it's the same as used on the 2.3), try pushing it on further, or are you saying it leaks where the plastic pipe joins the plastic connector?
It may be under pressure so expect some petrol squirting out if you pull it off.

I wouldn’t use clips to hold a hose on a petrol pipe that doesn’t have a flared end.

From what I could see (it was a bit wet today to do much) it appears to be leaking where the non rigid pipe joins the plastic connector :( >:( >:(

I suspect there is a plastic elbow type affair that comes off the top of the connector, and this has partially broken ???

Well chaps, just to keep you updated on this, an update ;D

Upon close and proper inspection it appears that the connector is indeed at fault, on the high pressure feed pipe that goes to the injector rail. Neither pipe is wet apart from directly under the connector, even then only a slight mist is evident.

I popped round to my local friendly garage who said straight away that it was probably the o-ring seal inside the connector that had perished and was not sealing properly.

I don't really want to mess around with high pressure fuel things so it will go to them to be sorted out asap.
