Title: Heater blows cold Post by ravinsixties on Nov 13th, 2007, 5:21pm Heater on Scorpio Ultima 2.3 R reg worked fine before engine replacement (due to head gasket blown and extensive scouring in chambers) Now blows cold. Hose into heater hot but other side engine cold. Garage mecanic says heater matrix probably blocked, but if so why did heater blow hot before engine replaced? I'd greatly appreciate any advice Thanks very much Mike (ravinsixties) |

Title: Re: Heater blows cold Post by Simmo on Nov 13th, 2007, 9:16pm If that is the case the problem is most likely to be an air lock. Have a read of THIS thread (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Problems;action=display;num=1194555193;start=) and the link to the 'Johnnycab' method. |

Title: Re: Heater blows cold Post by harry.m1byt on Nov 14th, 2007, 9:43pm If the matrix is blocked, you test it and sometimes clear it by fixing a garden hose on one side and flushing it through, but more likely it is simply an airlock... Park facing up a steep hill, engine cold, with the filler cap off. Run the engine and try gradually topping up the water level as any trapped air comes out of the system. A symptom of a partially blocked matrix is with blower off, both pipes can be warm, but the return pipe quickly goes cold if you turn the blower on and set it to hot. |
