Economy? you will be very lucky to break 20mpg with the 4.27 diff although it does take off quickly ;) There are a couple of other threads covering the manual conversion but it is quite involved |

Title: Re: would like to turn a alto to manual Post by Matt on Nov 25th, 2007, 7:49pm the cost in labour alone would out price most of the cars, then theres the price for the bits, your looking at least £150 per box (you need 2 gear boxes to do the mod), the escort cosworth clutch set me back £130, you'll need the prop from a manual 2.0, 2.3, 2.5 diesel version of what you have (saloon or estate) you'll need the pedals from a seirra because you wont be able to use a hydraulic clutch unless you want to have the one gear box modded, clutch cables arent that much though, and then tricking the car to make it thinks its in part so you can start it its an engine out job really, so with just the parts ive mentioned its over £400 and you can buy a full car with that |
