Title: global opening closing
Post by ghia-cossie on Dec 2nd, 2007, 4:06pm
got a question about this:

is a ghia standard equipped with this feature?

when i hold the key in close possition with the windows open it double locks and the illumination of the windows buttons lights up but no closing off the windows, and when opening it with the windos closed it dont open the windows but the buttons illuminate.

another problem is that the drivers door lock sometimes "hangs" so it opens but the alarm goes off when i open the door(tuut tuut horn sound) its the factory alarm system by the way.

also the interior lights not always come on when i unlock the vehicle.

all these problems can be caused by the drivers door lock that fails or a micro switch or something or can it be another electrical gremlin??

but when its the doorlock on the drivers side that fails, can i try to test global opening and closing on the passengers side doorlock?? or is it only the drivers lock that controlls this function?

strange thing those specs, i have a lot more options on my ghia, those options i have are ultima specs, such as the courtesy lights and the vanity mirrors with illumination and much more.

hi there

yes it should work from the passenger door lock as well.

btw, early '95 didn't have it as there was an issue with the sunroof.

The global open/close needs a continuous turn of the key for 2 or 3 seconds to activate it. If the locks switches are less than perfect, it might not see a continuous signal to trigger global feature. Mine didn't work at first, but did after sorting out the switches. Lack of use (using the remote to often) can often cause such switch problems.

So if you use the remote much of the time, try working the key back and forth in the hopes it might start to work again.
