Title: Lights on dash
Post by kittman on Dec 12th, 2007, 6:34pm
When i turn my ignition off i still have the lights on the dash on and it,s draining the battery. I presume this means that i have a fusbox problem (damp) anyone have any ideas on how to solve this without taking the fuseboxes out or if it relates to any other problems. Richie

Sounds like it  :-/

Possibly a dodgy ignition switch though?

You could try a hair dryer on the fuse box. Make sure the drain holes beneath and around the box are clear so water can escape.

If I took the ignition barrel out would that tell me if it was faulty

Had a quick look this afternoon and got a hair drier on both fuseboxes. Noticed when the key is at position 1 the warning lights on the dash and the autobox lights flicker  like mad and when i turn the ignition off to take the key out they come on and stay on. Still the same after ten minutes with a hairdryer

That sounds to me like the ignition switch is at fault. I think they just plug into the loom - source one in a scrap car and try it.

The easy answer to that, is no.

So it is back to the fuse box problem.

I know this might sound daft but check that the ASHTRAY is NOT shorting out with the cigar lighter.. it has been know for it to cause the very same fault .....
