Title: 1997 2.0 8V STARTING PROB
Post by gollfy on Dec 15th, 2007, 11:52pm
My scorp seems to be having a problem starting :'(

Started friday with a flat battery or so It seemed!!
Anyway after 10 minutes on jump leads it cracked into life and drove 5 miles home in dark.

Went to it today, check battery voltage (12.4v) and it cracked up first time so I decided to charge battery with charger so after topping up battery water and 30 mins on fast charge I put back on car.

Started again no problem, checked voltage at battery when car running, read nearly 14v so I presumed alternator is ok.

However after a few checks and starting a few times....hey presto, it wont start :'( slowely turning over :'(

I then decided to purchase a battery which was fitted but engine will still only turn over slowly even with new battery which I have tested (13v).

Am I right in thinking my next port of call will be the starter motor and roughly where is it located?

If so?, do all the different models of scorps have the same starter motor if I end up trying for one at a breakers yard?

Any help greatfully recieved
Thanks
Dave

Check the power cable is nice and tight on the starter motor. It can give this kind of fault.
