Title: Wild Rev Counter - 2.9V Cosworth Post by grandadman on Dec 21st, 2007, 9:15pm Tonight my rev counter did some wild clockwise excursions about 2 or 3 and then it stopped and behaved itself - Anyone had this problem with this model of Scorpio. I seem to remember reading something somewhere about this sort of thing ??? |

Title: Re: Wild Rev Counter - 2.9V Cosworth Post by Highlander on Dec 21st, 2007, 10:07pm While you were driving or when you turned the ignition on?? If its the latter its usually reckoned to mean the battery is on the way out although I also believe a battery with too low a rating may do the same |

Title: Re: Wild Rev Counter - 2.9V Cosworth Post by grandadman on Dec 21st, 2007, 10:23pm Good Point it was as I restarted the engine after a short in town run. I will keep my eye on the battery and check that I have 13.8 volts when the engine is running. A further thought, the car was engaged in this short run where the outside temp showed +0,5 degrees and all lights were on and the heater blasting out full heat . So the battery would have been needing some heafty support from the alternator. Thanks Highlander for your input :) Have you seen anything written on the subject on this forum? |
