Title: Re. Replacing Auto Dip Rear View Mirror Post by gerryw on Jan 21st, 2008, 1:27pm Hi all, (1997 Cossie) My Auto View mirror has gone all dark so I got a S/H mirror from a Scrap Yard (In good condition) but I believe it is difficult to get off (a chance of breaking W/screen)? Can anybody give me some details on the best way to go about it please? Regards Gerryw |

Title: Re: Re. Replacing Auto Dip Rear View Mirror Post by corsair on Jan 21st, 2008, 7:54pm Hi there GerryW the mirror does indeed have a lifetime warranty, I have just replaced mine by following the advice from the great guys on this site. You need to contact dani.andriacchi@magnadon.com You will then be sent a claims form. Fill out the few details they ask for plus a couple of photos and you should receive a brand new mirror within 2 weeks along with a waybill so you can return the old unit for free. Good service from Magna Donnelly and more valuable help from this site. gjf |

Title: Re: Re. Replacing Auto Dip Rear View Mirror Post by gerryw on Jan 22nd, 2008, 1:12pm Hi all, I have sent Emails to both of the listed Email addresses and have had no replies from either of them and this is why I have gone out and got a S/h replacement. If anybody has had a very recent reply or received a replacement mirror (under the guarantee) then I would be grateful if you could let me know? Regards Gerryw |

Title: Re: Re. Replacing Auto Dip Rear View Mirror Post by The_hearse on Jan 22nd, 2008, 7:57pm Just had my reply- Magna Donnelly does not carry a lifetime warranty on their mirrors. The warranty is consistent with that of the vehicle (i.e. 3 yrs 36,000 miles). We can provide you with an exchange for $75.00 plus s/h. If you feel this is incorrect you may contact the manufacturer. Thank you Can someone point me to where the 'lifetime warranty' policy comes from please ? Cheers |

Stacy Trott Sybesma’s Electronics 616-392-6911 x107 A further email was sent enquiring about cost (I was thinking it might be a small administrive amount) but they still want $75. Looks like the free mirrors under warranty went along with Dani ! |

Title: Re: Re. Replacing Auto Dip Rear View Mirror Post by TiberiuS on Jan 22nd, 2008, 11:31pm ...probably because they're sinking under the mounds of returned mirrors :( That lifetime warranty thing was a bit of a faux pas on Donnelly's part, it seems the bubble has finally burst, alien blood dripping over everything.. Why, oh why did I hoard that 2 ton pallet of broken rear view mirrors for so long? :-/ |

Title: Re: Re. Replacing Auto Dip Rear View Mirror Post by Uwsdutchy on Sep 14th, 2011, 4:20pm Thanks for the thread - ended up shipping my mirror on a vacation to Sybesma Electronics in the US: http://www.sybesmas.com/services.html, ask for one of the Stacys. It returned all happy, shiny & refurbished (it appears they did not have a Scorpio one in stock) @ USD 100 or so. Too easy, really, and it makes a significant difference in the overall look & feel of the cabin (as opposed to a ratty runny mirror! |

Title: Re: Re. Replacing Auto Dip Rear View Mirror Post by Lucien on Sep 21st, 2011, 5:39pm Was that $100 price a recent one? I just contacted Sybesma's with an enquiry via their website and was quoted $175 exchange. Maybe you pressed a magic button I haven't found or maybe it's just gone up. Anyone else have any experience? I have two dead mirrors, at $175 I think only one will get done for now. Lucien |

Title: Re: Re. Replacing Auto Dip Rear View Mirror Post by szinyei on Jan 23rd, 2014, 11:37pm or get a spare one from a Peugeot/ Citroen/ Renault. This is what I do. Peugeot 307 will do. A bit smaller (also Donnelly), but it works just fine if they do not get a bit yellowish. |
