Title: C C reset
Post by - Mike - on Jan 21st, 2008, 11:18pm
What can I say everything was fine until I got clever messing about thinking I'd just see what figure the climate control was giving i.e. 00 - 52 - 57 as per instructions.  Now the thing won't turn off or allow me to gain access to the reset stage despite many attempts.

I've even disconnected the battery for 20 minutes in the vain hope that this may return all to factory default but alas no joy.

So short of hitting it with a hammer any suggestions chaps please!

Exit Fault Processing Mode/Clear Fault Memory

Simultaneously press the buttons for "Recirculated Air" and"A/C" for about 10 seconds while the blower

control is on "OFF".

Blower off??

hi there

to me, the 52 code points to something wrong with the cc panel. i'd check the ribbon cable on the back of it.

when you had the battery off, did you still have the 2 dials set to the left (to start reset) when you re-connected?

Thanks for the replies chaps.

It worked fine until I mucked it up somehow last night.  >:(

I was only looking to see if there was any of the codes stored? I can't actually now gain access to the code as pressing recirculated Air and A/C buttons for about 10 seconds is now not working.

Both dials were to the left whilst the battery was disconnected and the ribbon hasn't been touched.

The controls are pots, don't actually go off - you could try some switch cleaner from behind the panel, don't get it on the LCD as it can get between the layers and cause black spots.

Rather depends whether off is a high or low resistance - could make it worse.

After looking at it again this afternoon I'm not so convinced now that the blower is not turning off.  I think because air is still being drawn through the centre vents it was fooling me into thinking it was on.  Despite this though when in the off position the displays are still showing the temperature and not the - - lines as normal and I still can't access the reset position.

I have again dropped the power and have now also took the unit out of the dash and re-inserted the ribbon in and out. Still no joy.  I wonder if there is a fuse that will do a hardcore reset to the module  ??? otherwise it looks like I may need a new control panel and module. :'(

This will teach me not to play!

Relay 24 in the auxiliary (passenger side) fuse-box covers the Air con.

Simmo....Your my HERO  :-*  ;)

Just popped outside and removed and refitted relay no. 24 and guess what, everything is working again, I have -- on the display when it's switched off!

I was even able to gain access to the reset function, where a code, never seen before of 51 was displayed, but who cares it works.

So will now replace relay no. 24 (if still available) and clean the terminals.

Many, many thanks

Mike

Glad to hear you're sorted and HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccreset.htm) is the page with the codes on and the 'buttons' on the left will give you access to any other detail you may need. Good luck. Mike.

I wouldn't bother buying a new relay. I had this problem once before and simply removing the relay, taking off the plastic cover and a bit of WD-40 on the contacts did the trick. Replace the plastic cover and re-fit the relay. You will know if it fails again, the same problem will reappear...then you replace the relay :-)
