Title: Scorpio 95 2.0 DOCH No heat
Post by Terje on Jan 23rd, 2008, 9:46am
Hi guys, I have my Ford Scorpio 95 2.0 DOCH station wagon and I have some problems with the heat on this car.

Whenever I use the car the Engine heat gauge barely moves any, it never moves up to normal except for when the car is standing still, then the gauge can move up to at least pretty close to Normal.

What might be the reason for my problem, and what do I need to do in order to solve it ?

Suspect a stuck ( OPEN) thermostat which needs replacing ....

OK, I'll go out and buy one and replace it then. Replacing it is fairly easy is it not ?

As Snoopy says...it maybe an open thermostat. Does the car heater work OK? Does it get very warm inside when on MAX setting? If so, It could still be the thermostat but may also be a faulty temp sensor sending a lower signal to the temp gauge. Either way, not a serious or major problem. Quite cheap to fix

All the details are HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/coolingmanl.htm). It is a good idea to soak the bolts with WD40 before attempting removal and go easy !!. Sometimes heat will help if they are stuck tight.

Thanks allot, I'm heading over to a dealer later and will try replacing it, it's a fairly cheap part as far as I understand so I'll simply replace it without doing any other testing.

davem: It never get's hot at all inside the car, the heater blower works just fine, the issue is that the engine temp, or the water never gets even warm, the temperature never goes above low on the gauge, looking at the gauge when inside the car it rarely goes up to the start of normal, and that is only when the car is standing still. As soon as I start driving the car the temperature goes below normal.

Inside the car it never gets warm it's cold all the time, however they air coming in from the heater blower is "hot" enough to melt ice on my windows and keep condense of my windows. There is however a quite noticeable difference if I adjust the knob on my heater to only cold air, then it gets freezing cold :)
