Title: AC fans problem
Post by sapte on Jan 25th, 2008, 11:17pm
My AC fans just quit, after some roaring noise and an decrease in spead even with the knob at max, they just quit. it's done this before and I used some petrol based spray to loosen them ... now I did the same but they just won't work. are they burned? can they be fixed?

thanx in advance, alex

If you mean the fan for the interior then failure of the HBC (heater blower controller) is quite common - this can be replaced.  If you mean the twin fans on the back of the radiator then these are controlled by a large green relay (behind the driver's side headlamp on UK spec cars) and two fuses.

Thank you both for your details, but I had problems with the interior heating fans ... It looked like the contacts of the HBC were somehow oxidated or something, just cleaned them and they work like new again :)
