Hello all,

We've taken advice from your site for the past couple of months and we'd like to thank you all.

We, the Irish gits, are Helen and Gary and we need your help, desperately.

The car went in to the garage to have a couple of dash bulbs replaced and to check why we had a slight misfire.
If I hadn't of been there watching the mechanic, I wouldn't have believed him. He took off the cover, gently put his hand under the engine harnes loom and it just dissolved into a puff of smoke! Actually it fell into a thousand pieces in his hand, but you get the idea!!!

Where can I get one? Will I have to get one made?
Has anybody got a spare in reasonable condition?

I'm not gonna tell you what the main Ford dealer quoted but it was nearly as much as we paid for the car 6 months ago! Plus they're now discontinued, so can't get me one anyway! Useless!

which is ok, but where does the loom go? How long is it?

If anybody has any advice, pictures, links etc etc etc, please let us know.

hi there

try www.fordpartsuk.com costs about £100+ vat, etc.

remember to give them all your car details (vin, etc and this website name). it's the fuel cut off loom (goes to the coil packs, cam sensor, tps, etc), not the fulll engine loom that your dealer has quoted for (i think).

only other option is to repair your own. not as hard as it looks, but does take time.

Hi. You're not the only ones, it's a common fault on the 16v Scorpio :)

Heat from the engine rises so the top part of the loom which connects the coils and injectors bakes and disintegrates, when I went to change the plugs on mine the entire top part shed all its insulation. It can be repaired, if it isn't too bad elsewhere you might get away with just putting new wiring in down as far as the casing where the injectors are. But as Andrew says it's a tedious job, probably far easier to get a new one from FPUK and have it fitted.
