Last year when my one failed. We repaired it with a rubber bush we had in the garage dont know what it was for we had to trim it up a bit to suit.but we made it fit and it passed.
we pressed in the cross piece then press the hole lot into the shocker with the help of wd-40 and a big socket

The Monroe Ride Leveller air shocker kit LA355,which includes a pair with air pressure gauge, valve and pipes for retro fitting will go straight onto your car,you need to cut off the Ford ends from the pipes and put them into the Monroes. They are half the price of Ford parts, but still cost about £175.00.However,the bushes(if they are still available)must be the cheapest option.Bottom bush 85GB 18016 AB,top bush 85GB18017 BB,dont let the 85 fool you, they were also fitted to the GRANADA.

hi there

it's a different set up on the scorpio, the shocker are self levelling (no pump).

re the bushes. i didn't think bushes were available for the scorpio (never thought about the granada). if they are, this will be a major tip, as the shock complete is very expensive.

don't use ashley banks for replacemementspm me for details, if required.

Hi contacted ford and no bushes are a made separate for either the scorpio/granada or seirra estate so of to my local motor factors to buy 2 seirra est one and pop out the bushes and swap them over (£35 is better than £400 a pair ???).
will let you all know how it goes.

Hi, I've used Polyurethane bushes from Superflex on the Imp in the past and I know they do universal shock absorber bushes. Have a look at http://www.superflex.co.uk/shockers.php
If there's a bush there with the right diameter, they can easily be trimmed to fit if they are too long. Does anyone know the exact size of the bush? I've found them very helpful to deal with in the past and they do list some other bushes for the Scorpio on their site.

Cheers Jim

Where theres a will theres a way!Nothing beats dogged determination.Well done Mark, you"beat the banker"!All my stretched Scorpios have self levelling suspension with a compressor, and are fitted with the bushes I stated.

Was it easy to press out the new bushes? I have a similar problem and need to get new bushes for my next mot.

Hi Jim you need to gain access to an hydrolic press and it take 2 mins to pop them out and change them.
The hardest part is removing the two shocks you need to remove the coi spring and bottom arm , blood, sweat and 200 fag's ;D.
Its all here http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/suspensionman.htm
Once you have done one side then the other is easy but allow a full day.
Good luck ;)

Or you can drop the whole subframe (7 bolts, half an hour and no fags)  ;D
