Title: Re: more electrical problems Post by Roger@NOrWAY on Jan 29th, 2008, 12:12am Hi chap! Been there done that :'( Had similar problems on my 24v. A hissing noise under the hood, some smoke and burnt smell directed me to the main wiring from the bulkhead to the two big connectors. Complete havoc. Had to dig it out and rebuild it. Difficult to reach for a thorough inspection because of among other things the outer cover on the wiring. Could be worth a check if you are absolutely sure your fuseboxes is in a good condition without damp. Good luck! |

Title: Re: more electrical problems Post by deconick on Jan 30th, 2008, 2:10pm new update on electrics, the problem did go away,so took the lovely cossie through the local carwash to see where the water is possibly making contact with electric componants, fuse boxes dry inside, pats box plus other bit behind glove box dry. ignition lights have stayed on but off again now. started to think where is there a lot of water every time it rains ??? ??? ??? we all probably get this from time to time the boot lid shower, could it be the boot lid light filling with water and shorting the system, cos when i push the brake pedal with keys out the dash lights ever go out and stay out or just flicker. so im going there next ;) ;) |

Title: Re: more electrical problems Post by Simmo on Jan 30th, 2008, 5:07pm There have been problems with water getting in to the rear light clusters through defective seals BUT there is a known problem with the wiring loom being damaged by the boot operating arm on the drivers side. You may need to remove some of the trim and the outer wrapping of the wiring loom in order to check it. The loom should be firmly clipped back out of the way so if it is not and there are signs of it being 'contacted' by the arm for the boot lid check it out. |
