Title: 3 Button remote...........
Post by dxt on Feb 3rd, 2008, 12:38pm
I doubt if I'm alone on this but my remote works fine.!!! But one problem.....the rubber insert that holds the works is almost falling out....the rubber is completely perished. Does anyone know if you can buy them seperately or does anyone have a fob thats cream crackered but the rubber insert is ok??
Like all of us I don't relish the thought of having to spend £50 or more on ebay.
Cheers d.x.t ???

I tried a couple of years back - even tried the manufacturer but to no avail!

In the end I bought a brand new one from fordpartsuk for about £70!

Hi Daven

2008 is becoming a strange year for remotes. During January there were 8 scorpio remotes on e-bay ranging from £25 - 30 used and £ 75 new.
There are currently 2 listed. I have the innards of one you can have if you want.

Firstly a big thankyou to Alastair. Spare arrived and I now have a remote in good order. (I will do as I promised Alastair.)
However I still cannot reprogram the remote. After turning the key to 1 three times I get the 'ping' but after pressing 'unlock' and switching off I don't get the second 'ping' and the remote still doesn't work. I have bought two new batteries and cleaned the cicuit board etc. but nothing at all. Didn't I read on the site somewhere that if the remote hadn't been used for a while there was something else you had to do.??
Only good thing today was the old beauty (the scorp not the wife) passed her MOT with flying colours.!!

The remote has to reset, I tried to do it to mine and new batteries, but only locks, wont open locks or release boot lid. In the handbook you have to d**n its not here, erm, if not sorted let me now, I'll find out. I think you have to press a button on remote and within 10 seconds open car with keys or other way.

Try turning the key to the first point (just once - not 3 times) and then press the unlock button on the remote (within 3 seconds) - if this works you should then hear the bong! (if this does not work try the lock button)

As far as I know the remote will reset itself after removing the battery. The code is dynamic and changes each time you use it, so the car and the remote have to be in sync which is what you are doing by setting it.

It's called a rolling code. I think the way it works is each time you press the remote the code sent and the code expected will change, only a match will permit unlock.

The receiver allows for itself to fail to receive a number of presses of the remote for when it is out of range, but there is a limit -  exceed that limit and it will no longer work until resynced with the car.

-So never sit there out of range of the car fidgetting by repeatedly pressing the remote.

The idea of the rolling code is to defeat car thieves from simply receiving the code and retransmitting it to gain entry. Once the code is used, it moves on to another psuedo random code agreed between remote and receiver.

The limit is ten - a standard resync will re-set it.
