Title: Boot replacement Post by Kenboy on Feb 14th, 2008, 6:34am Hi Yesterday I unfortunately came second best to a gate post resulting in a badly damaged boot, the access on my insurance is 350 pounds I am almost certain the repair will exceed this so I am going try and source one from a breaker eventually, my question is, how difficult is it to replace by an average diy man, your advice would be gratefully recieved. Many Thanks Kenboy |

Title: Re: Boot replacement Post by Simmo on Feb 14th, 2008, 7:32am Have a look at THIS page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/closuresmanl.htm) and scroll down to the Boot. I put the whole page up in case you try the 'test' on another part !!. :D. IIRC these things are pretty heavy so a helping hand fom a mate would no doubt make life easier. The item should be readily available....try parts wanted on here?. ;) |

Title: Re: Boot replacement Post by Octavian_P on Feb 14th, 2008, 10:55am It's a two person job. It's pretty straight forward. You need to remove the lining, wiring etc. The last part it's a little fiddly as you need to adjust the hinges so that the boot closes without unusual rubbing and leftover spaces. |

Title: Re: Boot replacement Post by harry.m1byt on Feb 16th, 2008, 11:59am Can I suggest putting some old cushions or folded sheets in the boot opening front corners, to allow the lid to safely rest on them whilst taking the hinge bolts out and refitting? |

Title: Re: Boot replacement Post by mr._floppy on Feb 16th, 2008, 9:47pm Unfortunately there's a wee bundle of wiring going down the Offside hinge to the lighting strip on the boot. There's also the hinge switch that turns off/on the boot light and controls the dash boot closed/open indicator. |
