Title: 12v injection problem Post by Nick on Feb 18th, 2008, 4:26pm Hi all- My 12v is running fine on gas but gives a tiny rev then dies when I switch to petrol. Two questions, what is the easiest way to check that petrol is present in the fuel rail (to show the pump is working) what readings should I get from an injector plug when cranking? The car was running fine on petrol up to two days ago. Cheers Nick |

Title: Re: 12v injection problem Post by gozz on Feb 18th, 2008, 9:28pm Take the pump relay out of aux fuse box, slacken the union nut connecting the pipe to the front of the fuel rail, switch ign key on and push the relay in and out to get a squirt of fuel.Relay is green/violet. The injectors are all permanently live whilst in running mode, and are grounded through the PCM one bank at a time through two seperate pins in order to inject. The engine loom is a common fault point on early cars, the insulation breaks down. Title: Re: 12v injection problem Post by Nick on Feb 18th, 2008, 9:58pm cheers Goss- I have tried inserting /removing relay 17 and heard clicks, but thought I should hear pump in tank whirrring? (no noise). Can I ask you where the fuel union can be found? I have looked hard but the only pipes I seem to find are vac pipes. The PCm is the book sized ally thing in the passenger footwell? I have had battery voltage on at one injector plug and the motor ran for several seconds on petrol tonight, petering out like a cold carb engine wth no choke when you try to rev it, so probably the fuel supply? Thanks Nick |

Title: Re: 12v injection problem Post by Nick on Feb 20th, 2008, 9:19pm Hi Gozz I had a poke this afternoon- I fed the relay pin 3 12volts and the pump ran and fuel came from the union. I have piggy-backed a gash relay across the existing relay and petrol running restored! Thanks for your help Nick |
