Title: Re. Heater Matrix Problems/Thermostat Post by gerryw on Feb 19th, 2008, 4:43pm Hi again I have posted this also on the advice forum so as I can get the widest help possible. Please look in the Advice Forum under:- (Re: Cossie (1997) Thermostat?) to bring you up to speed on all replies... I previously did the test that Highlander asked me to do and reported that the heater matrix in/out pipes were:- the in pipe = hot, the out pipe =cold and I got a reply that the matrix was probably blocked and the thermostat was OK. However, I carried out the same test today by running the engine at 4000rpm while static and waiting for the temp. guage to reach midway. When the midway point was reached the main radiator pipe was very hot, the fans where not working and both the in and out heater matrix pipes where very hot. But when the heater was turned on (set at 26) it still blew out cold air (the a/c was turned off as the A/C compressor is broken). So where do I go from here Any help would be appreciated... Regards Gerryw |

Title: Re: Re. Heater Matrix Problems/Thermostat Post by Highlander on Feb 19th, 2008, 6:35pm Have you flushed the matrix yet? You may need a new one. Youj are getting hot water so either the matrix vanes are blocked or the air isnt getting through them try resetting the heater controls http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccreset.htm |

Title: Re: Re. Heater Matrix Problems/Thermostat Post by Highlander on Feb 19th, 2008, 8:03pm No I dont but I think you have convinced yourself you do ;) Why do you think you need one? If it needed replaced then your engine would either be overheating until it boiled or running slightly cold, you have neither of these symptoms |
