Title: Re: Thermostat housing 2.3 Post by Tompion on Feb 20th, 2008, 1:44am Hi Boris The inlet manifold and thermostat housing on the 2.3 are all one part, so you would need to change it all. Dave |

Title: Re: Thermostat housing 2.3 Post by BorisSK on Feb 20th, 2008, 9:27am I know, but some friends told me about change only the thermostat housing from aluminium inlet box from 2.0 16V. when you cut off the plastic housing from the plastic box 2.3, and this same doing on aluminium inlet box from 2.016V, using only the parts - thermostat housing. or can you send me web links for inlet box from 2.0 16V ?? do you have it ? thanks boys |

Title: Re: Thermostat housing 2.3 Post by jonnycab on Feb 20th, 2008, 11:32am I suppose it would be possible to cut the thermostat housing away from the manifold if you knew exactly where to cut it. But the problem would be that the manifold would only have 4 bolts securing it to the head & the T-stat housing only two (instead of the six that secure the whole unit). So manifold port air leaks & T-stat housing coolant leaks may be difficult to prevent :-/..... :) |

Title: Re: Thermostat housing 2.3 Post by jonnycab on Feb 20th, 2008, 12:11pm As scorpio_man says, you can repair them as long as the crack isn't too big, with quick steel/JB Weld or similar. You will get a better repair with the manifold off as you can see inside the housing & fix it inside as well. I did this a year ago & it's still holding strong after doing 25,000 + miles :) |
