Title: Cossie Eating fuel pressure regulators
Post by Ultima_Bloke on Feb 23rd, 2008, 10:06am
Hi all

dads cossie appears to be eating fprs. After a 70 mile trip we switched it of for 10 mins, started again and pulled off the kerb then it died. Started again and died straight away. it then did this 6 times on the trot then it wouldnt fire. After reading on the forums we changed the fpr. Car ran well for about 20 miles and then died again same problems. We suspected a dodgy fpr so changed it again. 10 miles down the road the same problem. Has any one got any idea what is likely to be causing this??

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Doesn't the pump run continuously ?

(reason I ask is that my LPG 12v is running full bore even though zero fuel is being used)

Pretty sure the fuel pump runs continuously to maintain fuel pressure - excess is returned to the fuel tank.

Could the FPR problem be dodgy wiring ? Every time you are unplugging / re-plugging the connection is becomes a good connection but after a short time the connection is breaking  ???

Hi Ultima

could be the EIDS unit wiring (black and white) from EIDS - ECU - Fuel pump.

My experience of a faulty FPR is trouble starting when warm. Usually starts on the second or third attempt but with a strong smell of petrol coming through the vents  :)

My personal experience of the same kind of problem that you have, was a faulty/overheating fuel pump relay  :)

Relay 17 in the passenger side (auxilliary) fusebox. :)
