Title: 12v 2-9 problems'your exsperiance! Post by jrggino on Mar 11th, 2008, 5:15pm ::) Hi, I have several issues, one is my cruise control. I have checked the motor and its all free, and the brake switch feeds. what is happening is it will not switch on with the on switch. BUT if i press the + or - buttons the cruise green lamp comes on but i cannot get it to drive. The other is when i go over lots of bumps the airbag lamp on the dash comes on and off. I know you guys are scorpio people and want to pick your knowlage and exsperiance. Would appricate your recomendations if you have the time. Thanks Jim Has anyone connected a water system to these cars, if so how does it run! is it good on fuel! |

Title: Re: 12v 2-9 problems'your exsperiance! Post by TiberiuS on Mar 11th, 2008, 7:14pm Hi Jim, welcome to the site, the 2.9 12v is supposed to be the most reliable of the bunch. With the airbag fault, I had exactly the same and it was the clock spring connector behind the steering wheel. Not a bad job but be careful of the airbag when you do the work. Good luck. Regards, Bruce :). |

Title: Re: 12v 2-9 problems'your exsperiance! Post by harry.m1byt on Mar 11th, 2008, 9:09pm Have the battery disconnected for at least 30 minutes, before touching anything to do with the air bags. I can't help with the cruise, but the cruise control module is above your right leg as drive. Remove the soft lining and it is the module mounted on a carrier tray. It sounds vaguely possible that the module might be misbehaving. It should turn on and off on the right button, speed adjusted by the left +/- ones. It should drop out if your speed falls below 25mph or if you touch the brake pedal. Just a thought - as both problems seem to be related at the steering wheel, could the wiring possible be damaged around there? |

Post by Simmo on Mar 11th, 2008, 10:20pm Details of the clock spring etc are HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/interior/airbags/abclocksprng.pdf) ;). Have you checked that the cable is connected to the throttle?. It is only held by a small 'banjo' shaped connector and can easily be dislodged or wear loose. |
