Anybody got a Remote that works at more than 1ft with new batteries.  How do you do it?

Mine was bad when I bought the car but with some new batteries and the contacts cleaned and the backs of the rubber buttons recoated it worked great.

Problem is, unless you double lock it, you can't tell it's been locked if you're more than a foot away cos the lights don't flash.

Tried all you recomend and still only works near the rear window.  Does anybody know where the cars sensor/aerial is situated.

The receiver is part of the CCM module. The CCM is the unit hidden behind the glove box. I don't think the CCM has an external to its box antenna, so range might be made worse by the contents of the glove box.

My range is 20 to 80 feet, but it varies depending upon where I am. Best range is always away from sources of interference - out in the country side.

Strange how this varies from car to car, mine is pretty poor as well and I have to take the keys out of the ignition and hold the fob over the back seat to unlock the tailgate from inside the car  ::)

Cheers Jim

There is only one receiver for all the remote functions. Mine works fine to unlock the boot when the key is in the ignition and the remote on the same bunch. It is only able to unlock the boot with the ignition turned off. It seems to need a couple of seconds after it has been turned off, before the button will work.

This seems to be the theme throughout 'mijfife' and myself have a range of 1 foot other have about 20 to 80 feet.  This was the reason I asked if there was an arial or something that was common to all of us with a short range.

Hi Chris,
I've managed to increase the range of my remote a good bit by doing the 'tin foil on the back of the buttons on the remote trick' as described in the FAQ section. I'd cleaned everything before but it didn't make much difference, the tin foil has certainly improved things and I'm now able to lock the car from at least 20 feet away   :o

Cheers Jim
