Title: Driver seat electrics
Post by lesmond on May 13th, 2008, 10:58pm
Hi all, I have a ultima 2.0lt est and the electric adjustment on the backrest "tilt forward" has stopped working, all other functions work fine, the memory works but it doesn't return the backrest forward.

any help would be appreciated ???

Thanks Les

Have you checked the connectors under the seat?. Sometimes rear seat passengers can dislodge them with their feet. :)

Yeah I had a look, but they all seem to be in place, none are loose

Hi there, is the seat motor running? I've seen a case where the motor was fine and running, but the "axle" that actually turns the seat "screw" was cut  :o

The motor must be working as the seat still tilts back, so it must be a electric problem :'(

Fault usually caused by seat control unit under drivers seat, you can by pass unit to do away with memory function.

There are 3 motors under the seat, if 2 are working then it could be a mucky contact on the switch unit, the lumbar support is an electrical pump which pumps an airbag up.... have got some out of my 2ltr somewhere.

is there only one motor for the backrest, because it will still tilt back

I'm guessing on faulty seat control unit. Or bad wiring to the unit. Either get a second hand one or re-route the wiring to bypass the unit altogether.
I can give you the wiring diagrams if you need them.
