Title: Power Save Fuse
Post by roger_howes on May 15th, 2008, 1:12pm
Hello all,

My Power Save fuse keeps blowing - fuse 36 (10 amp) in the auxiliary fuse box (1997 Cosworth estate).

I tried a 15 amp, just in case whatever was causing it was a little over the limit, but it still blew.

I took out relay 16 (the yellow one) in the auxiliary fuse box, but it looked alright.  Nothing charred or discoloured!

I know this has been discussed before, but did anyone ever discover what the most likely problem is?

Any suggestions.

Thanks.

Roger.

hi there

i'd give all the lights a check over first of all. then move to everything that uses a timed function. ie lights, wipers, radio, etc.

do you use the front ashtray? lots of metal bits behind it.

Thanks for your reply scorpio-man.

However, there's something I'm not clear about.  If there was a problem with the lights, wouldn't that just blow the fuse for those in the main fuse box.  As it's the fuse that feeds the power save relay that's blowing, does it matter what actually happens to the lights themselves?  Is it not something in the power save relay circuit?

I haven't seen the circuit diagram, so I ask out of ignorance!

Many thanks.

Roger.
