Title: Re: sudden loss of power Post by Tons_of_fun on May 16th, 2008, 4:52pm Fuel filter ? ? .Just out of curiosity when it happens does the winter setting mode button light up on your gearbox ? ?.My old 2.0ltr used to do something similar & everytime it went flat ,the gearbox had switched itself over to winter mode :o :o.Never got to the bottom of that one as it was nicked shortly afterwards :'( :'( :'( |

Title: Re: sudden loss of power Post by TiberiuS on May 16th, 2008, 6:20pm Sounds like a fuel issue, could be the little diaphragm in the FPR not opening properly when the revs go up. Or fuel filter like Tonnes mentioned ::) Pumps can sometimes drop speed when the commutator and bearings get worn but they normally die completely and one day it just won't start, been there ;) |

Title: Re: sudden loss of power Post by Kjetil S on May 17th, 2008, 2:49am What engine is it? A broken coil pack can seriously cut down on available engine torque, but that problem is afaik usually on the 16v's. |

Title: Re: sudden loss of power Post by jonnycab on May 17th, 2008, 2:55am Have you checked the fuel pump relay ?...... Also check that the small black lead that goes on the battery negative is on nice & tight....this can play havoc if it's slightly loose :) HTH :) |
