Title: NOW SHE WONT START
Post by meatman on May 25th, 2008, 7:29pm
hi
had my cosworth to pieces trying to sort out my problem with the waterpump
have put everything back in place and now the engine turns over but refuses to fire up can anybody give me some pointers to where i should be looking to try and get her to fire up
have checked fuses and they are ok
i have a funny feeling i might have missed putting a plug back in place but looking at the wiring i seem to have got everything back in order

regards

If you've left 1 plug out of 6 out I'll still start abeit rather nosily.  It will be elsewhere.

Did you have the battery disconnected?
check for a small black lead not been reconnected on the -ve terminal.
are you getting a spark?
Fuel cut off switch in the boot?

hmmmm, i would suggest more to do with the loom or engine management side of things, the cossie engine wont start without being told too electrically, so to speak

cam sensor plug could actually be at fault when i stripped out the no2  tensioner i noticed that the sensor wiring was wedged behind the tensioner but the car was working before this so i dissmissed the possibility of the wiring being damaged
will have a look tomorrow

hi
put the car back together the plug that goes to the edis with four leads coming from it was broken the insulation was corroded very badly i replaced this with shrink tube but no further insulation the car started and drove for about 2 miles but then the engine cut out i managed to start the car again put it into drive and crawled for about another 200 yards when i tried to accelerate the car revs went up and down like a fiddlers elbow and the engine cut out again the car is now parked up at my sisters after getting it towed there as she was closer than getting it towed back home
the engine now turns over but will not start
i think it looks like a loom rebuild as i cannot get one from fmd and the repair to the waterpump looks like it has failed as it is still leaking from the top gland
i desperately want this car back on the road but the expense is starting to cripple me
is there anybody out there that will make a wiring loom or anywhere i can get a decent second hand one same with the water pump i am getting suicidal
