Title: 24v cosworth cooling fans
Post by xr4s_r_ace on Jun 4th, 2008, 10:25pm
hi guy,s...dropped a 24v bob engine in my xr4 and the cooling fans dont kick in and it overheats. they are wired in on the standard scorpio wiring loom. i guess they are controlled by the ecu with the sender at the front of the engine, or is there another one that i,m missing?.....or is the fan relay a bit delicate?   cheers pete.   :-/

try checking the wiring to the temp sensor mine was badly corroded
also try and operate the fans via the relay big green box behind headlight drivers side

The EEC-V fitted to the Scorpio controlled the fans (via the green relay tower) based on the output from the coolant temp sensor.  If you're using an EEC-IV then you'll need to add a thermoswitch and connect that to the relay tower instead.  You should examine the system used on a 12v V6 or early TD Scorpio to see what I mean.
