Title: no water left :( :( :(
Post by bootiful-scorpios on Jun 26th, 2008, 8:17pm
I was parking scorpe up at work tuesday morning  i just happened to look at the ground and i noticed all wet lines in the car park which seem to have been where i had been ...

i thought id better have a quick look under car in case its coming from the poor old scorpe.... and  :o yes it def was :O it was poring out like a tap from the engine tray so i just thought i must have a split hose some where ,

i did not have air con on so i knew it was not that ... buy this time i was already late into work so thought ill have to have a look later :(  at break i took a kettle full of water out it took the whole lot so had to get a 2nd one the water did not seem to be coming out ... so i thought ill just start her up.. after a few seconds water was pouring out again ... at that point i realised i could not drive her anywhere with water coming out at that rate ! so got a trailer to put her on and took her to the garage , its the water pump that is leeking..

garage ordered one in they got the pump down today and they rang me up to say they had been sent a wrong pump !!!! they asked if i could try and get one from somewhere as the garage said they have tried a load of places,, including ford bussys which do have one but they dont know the where abouts of it and said it could take up to 3 weeks to come down....:( due to the location ...... unknown lol

would any of you guys beable to tell me where to try and get one from??    as poor scorpe is sitting there striped down and waiting for a pump  i dont think the garage want her sitting there taking up there space...

:( :'(

Below is an extract from a post on the mailing list on 9 june 08 from Roger O'Neill after he sourced another pump:

"So - in the short term - If anyone else out there needs a waterpump for a
24v Cosworth engine Dee's of Croydon - tele 02086868888 manager Gary Rowney,
will have the one he ordered for me in on the 12th. He also apparently found
another in Invicta Motors in Thanet"

I think the part no was 7334632

Hi Tompion,

Thank you for the reply, Dee's of Croydon do have a  waterpump for....a 24v cosworth engine..

But unfortunately they wont sell it .... :( they say they only  have the one and its for work shop use only!!

so still waiting on ford to locate the one they have on there system .....

Seems like its now going to start getting hard for us scorpio drivers to keep our cars on the road! i think its so silly that ford did not keep up making parts for the scorpio, when you can buy parts over the counter for cars over 20 years old! >:( its not right! the comfort of the scorpio is way ahead of its time with all the extras you get on them!

I'm surprised that someone like QH haven't produced a pattern part yet.....you can get a pattern part water pump for a 2.3, so why not for a cossie ?  ???

Hi johnny thank you for the reply,
the garage where scorp still is, tried for pattern part first ,
they rang me up and said, we can get hold of a pattern part for the 2.3 and 2.9 but not  for a cossie, they said they do have one in there workshop for a 2.9 12v.

That is the stupid thing about it, chances are it only needs a bearing & seal.

they said it was to gone to far,
they also said its no good putting on a second hand one if we could get hold of one,
they said as you want to keep the car long term, it wont do us any good later on as it seems like they will soon be impossible to get hold of one!

i have even seen a ad for one on net saying new water pump for cosworth but as you open the pic you can clearly see its a second hand one been cleaned up! lol

i now keep getting thoughts about the  one from ford coming down. and being a dodgy one! lol or if they cant locate it ! it could be on the system still but i bet there stuff go missing at times lol !!I think i am having a down day today  lol
