Title: Cosworth 24v Injector removal HELP needed
Post by grandadman on Jul 14th, 2008, 2:36pm
Hi can any help me with these two outstanding niggling items.

1. THIS (http://www.x100p.co.uk/edis6.html)

2. THIS (http://www.x100p.co.uk/fr.html)

No 2- Looks as though all I have to do is give it a pull to remove this and other injectors ~ What am I missing  ??? I have spent a long time searching for a pdf which covers the fuel rails but so far no luck.

No 1 - Looks a bit odd to me I stopped the job at this point looking a he EDIS6 logically the numbers should follow the
123
456  [front of car]
pattern. again I have looked but cant find anything which confirms which plug lead goes where  ???  ???  ???  ???

I have found THIS (http://www.x100p.co.uk/frdwg.html) thanx to mi old m8 Simmo

It appears that there is nothing to stop me removing the injector/s ~ must be siezed in the hole   >:(
gentle wriggle to be applied unless somebody tells me different.  ???

The electrical connection has been removed and so have the two M7 small bolts

1. is correct. In fact if you wipe off the grime on top of the coil surface you will see the numbers printed by the posts.

2. The best solution is to remove the fuel rail (6bolts) and use compressed air as Howiedintheplace suggests:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Advice;action=display;num=1190167024;start=
Be careful though, as when they finally go the injectors can pop out like bullets and hurt someone or get damaged. Caution dictates to replace the two small bolts that hold the injector with longer ones so they stay under control.

Good luck,
Mike

No need to remove the injectors from the rails, just remove the rails in one piece. new seals will be required.

Thanx to you both !
No 1 sorted thanx to mike
No 2 sorted thanx to you both. the reason I was so preoccupied with the injector/s and/or the fuel rail was that I had dropped a M10 bolt from the throttle control support bracket down into the V so I HAD to find it before I preceded any further,
it was laying just out of sight under the harness. Got my trusty telescopic magnet to assist and retrieval was effected without further delay so...
Cheers once again to everyone on the Scorpio website.
