I own a '97 cossie for half a year, and after tackling a few minor problems, also with help of this great site, it runs beautiful well. In a scorpio advertisement the seller commented the car stops running at low speed. BOB dies out. Shift to neutral and start again and te car runs as if nothing had happened. I had this same problem twice. Does anyone know where to look for?

fuel pressure regulator?
idle control valve?
Sticking aircon compressor?

Thanks for your fast peply, Highlander. I allready repaired the idel contlol valve. The moving part in the actuatercoil was blocked, WD40 solved this problem.
Fuel pressure regulater, could be; altough the bearing of the magnetic coupler (is this correct english? :-/_of the aircocompressor is gone and makes a lot of noise sometimes. Can I replace this bearing without removing the pump from the vehicle?

The aircon compressor may be stalling your engine if its sticking, especially at low revs, remove the drivebelt from the pulley or disconnect the electrical connector from the compressor to see if thats the problem.

Do you mean the rubber insulators in the front of the compressor clutch are worn and rattling ? You can replace the complete clutch fairly easily without removing the compressor.

I did not have time to take a good look at it yet. I removed the drivebelt and the pulley felt very loose. It sounds like a worn bearing but when I turn it bij hand it turns fine. I will take a good look at that.

Is that just the pulley itself you are turning? the outer part?
I suspect that will be ok and that the problem will be the bearing on the inner part which "locks" onto the outer pulley by means of a clutch when the aircon needs the compressor running.

How does the engine run with the belt removed?

The engine itself runs as smooth as a new one now the idle control valve does its job again. It seems that the outer side of the pulley has come loose a bit, the part the belt runs on. Makes no diffirence the aircon is switched on or off, the noise stays, sometimes more sometimes less en sometimes its not there.
