Title: Cossie owners Post by Chieftain on Sep 18th, 2008, 6:28pm Further to my bonnet thread I have decided that due to radiator forest preventing the normal way of freeing the bonnet I am going to have to cut the grill and hopefully unscrew the 2 bolts that hold the bonnet catch thus releasing said bonnet. I need a Cossie owner (or more) to have a look and see if this is workable. You can see the bolts clearly through the grill so hope this will work. FMD want £40.50 to look at it with no guarentee it can be repaired, almost like saying the car is written off cause you will reach a stage when you can not service it at all, so please take a look and let me know |

Title: Re: Cossie owners Post by Tompion on Sep 20th, 2008, 12:13pm Afraid I can't answer for the cossie, but on the 2.3 you can reach up between the belts and the fans and reach foreward to where the cable attaches to the lever & slide it across. I can take a picture later so you can see the area. Dave |

Title: Re: Cossie owners Post by Highlander on Sep 20th, 2008, 5:12pm Hi Bob, If its getting to that stage, use a reciprocating saw and cut through the striker pin, with a long enough blade you'll be able to get it through the grill without damaging it and cut through the pin, I have a spare one i can give you, then its only a matter of two 10mm bolts to swap it over. |

That looks really feasabile apart from the blade length, longest here is 12" and thta only just touches the pin. Once this is open though will have a good look to sse what ways can be used in future in case it happens to anyone else. |
