My electric dipping interior mirror has stopped working and no longer protects from headlight glare. Unlike some other members' mirrors, it does not leak.

I seem to recall members discussing replacements, but I can't find the thread when using our search function.

Can anyone advise how to locate a new mirror (not used)?

Neil, I think you will find that the threads were about replacements under guarantee by 'Donnely' the manufacturers. IIRC they are no longer prepared to exchange them in view of the age of the cars and thus the mirrors. Hopefully someone who has tried will be able to offer more help. :)

If you look at Snoopys article HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/pcmirror.htm) it does contain the Finis number for a replacement.

Thanks Simmo. I have the FINIS and I have heard that other makes, such as Jaguar, have the same mirror fitted. I'll just have to look around for the cheapest :P option!

Yep, I might have to do that but I am trying to keep the old girl with as much oem specified kit as I can. No doubt sounds daft :P but having had the car from new I like everything to work as intended.

Just possibly, one day, these cars might become collectors items (and pigs might fly) ::)

Neil MY advice is to get it replaced ASAP It might start leaking that alien blood goo all over the centre consul if you don't. Mine did not give ANY warning ... it happened overnight.

I would like to collect as well, especially Cosworth's, but don't have the room unfortunately :-/.

There are a few on sale E-Bay, but one can get ones fingers burnt on such purchases.

I wonder if you are best going the whole way and sourcing a new ( but, unfortunately, not an exact ) replacement.

I bought a new Donelly model ( Dimmer + Compass ) for my Ford Vic, only £30 all the way from the States. 8)

Thanks; I might have to buy a new one but would prefer similar to the original and the same windscreen fitting.

Anyone know of a direct (new) replacement?

Donelly do still make this mirror although do not supply it on their lifetime warranty.

Originally as previously stated there was a guy who was the contact but I understand this has now finished ... Donelly can be found at MAGNA (http://www.magna.com/magna/en/products/expertise/donnelly/default.aspx) I have had a quick look and somewhere in there is a " contact us " info ..
